Lately, I’ve come down with a serious case of have-to and I sure hope it’s not contagious.
You know, that virus that creates a little voice that judges everything in your life as a have-to.
Have-to, need-to, got-t0 messages that pour stress into your day.
I have to clean out the kitchen drawer.
I have to sort out my clothes to give to Goodwill.
I have to call my sister
I took the cure and changed my have-t0 into want-to. It gives me permission and choice shifting from judgments and commands.
I decided to take the pressure and just do whatever I want to—and that may include cleaning out the kitchen drawer, or sorting clothes or making a cup of tea and having a long chat with my sister.
